Baker Hughes: Weekly North American rig count up 76 to 1,986

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The number of rigs drilling for oil and natural gas in North America rose by 76 to 1,986, according to a weekly update by Baker Hughes Inc. BHI on Friday. The U.S. rig count fell by 14 from last week to 1,760, while the Canadian rig count rose by 90 to 226. The U.S. offshore rig count fell by two to 79. In addition, the number of gas rigs decreased by 19 to 1,465, while the oil rig count rose by three to 291, Baker Hughes reported.
